Computers

Students receive 45 minutes of Computer instruction each week. The computer class focuses of technology standards that will prepare students for a 21st century digital experience. Students will strive to be  proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, coding, develop proficient keyboarding skills and working on the cloud. The technology program will teach students to utilize online research, build confidence when using multiple devices and platforms as well as use digital media to communicate and to creatively express their knowledge.


Music

Students receive 45 minutes of Music instruction per week as part of the general curriculum. Topics include music appreciation, history of music, music theory, and hands-on use of percussion instruments and recorders. Students also have the opportunity to participate in our extracurricular programs in the school choir and choir band.

Spanish

Third to sixth grade students receive Spanish instruction 2-3 times a week while seventh and eighth grade students receive instruction everyday. The Spanish program consist of teaching our students basic elementary Spanish such as the introduction of vocabulary, phrases, the use of verbs and verb tenses through basic conversations. They also learn prayers in Spanish. Students expand their knowledge of the Hispanic cultures and traditions. In Grade seventh and eighth a basic Spanish I course is taught with emphasis on verb conjugation, writing and speaking.


Art

Students receive 45 minutes of Art instruction each week. Projects include the elements and principles of design, as students explore the use of various genres such as painting, collage, soft sculptures, sketching and printmaking. As students learn about various artist, they complete projects that incorporate theme related components, such as style, color, medium or subject matter.


Physical Education

Our students in Transitional Kindergarten participate in 45 minute physical education classes three times each week. Our students in Kindergarten through 8th grade participate in 45 minute physical education classes twice each week.  Our physical education teacher focuses each class on basic skills such as stretching, calisthenics, motor skills, and running.  We instill good sportsmanship and team work through activities such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, and football.
